H.M.S. Richards Begins

On October 19, H.M.S. Richards begins his radio ministry, “Family Ministry,” with other Adventist ministers on KNX in Los Angeles, laying the foundation for what would become the Voice of Prophecy.

Voice of Prophecy First Broadcast

The first broadcast of the Voice of Prophecy radio program debuts, becoming only the second religious program ever aired on the radio.

Coast-to-Coast & Spanish Ministry

A landmark year: The Voice of Prophecy becomes the first religious coast-to-coast broadcast on 89 stations. Simultaneously, Dr. Braulio Pérez Marcio launches "La Voz de la Esperanza" (The Voice of Hope) for the Spanish-speaking community.

Faith for Today Television

On May 21, William Fagal starts broadcasting the Faith for Today television program in New York, which eventually becomes the first national religious telecast by December of that same year.

It Is Written & Color Broadcast

In the spring, George Vandeman launches "It Is Written," the first Seventh-day Adventist television program produced in color, starting with 13 stations in Fresno, California.
